Unboxing Live 173: iPhone 6S Launch and Unboxing

Apple has eliminated most of the fun from Apple Store iPhone launches! In this episode, I am waiting for the iPhone 6S to launch at the Alderwood Mall Apple Store. Typically, there are hundreds of people all camped out, waiting in line, and generally switching between having a great time and hating life depending on the temperature and the rain. This year? For the vase majority of the night it was 3 people. THREE PEOPLE! I was the third to arrive, getting there at 8:00PM the night before launch - last year by then there were 80 people in line. The next person didn't arrive until about 4:30am - 8.5 hours later. I do finally get my hands on the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, and bring you an unboxing of the device as well.

The Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are now available for pre-order. You can head over to Apple’s Web site now to grab the 4.7-inch iPhone 6s or 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus. Just be sure you know which carrier, color, and storage option you want so that you can get the iPhone s6 in your cart and check out quickly, as the site is getting hammered with traffic, which may result in errors:

The new iPod touch features the Apple A8 processor, which is the same 64-bit chip found in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, while maintaining the 4-inch Retina display. This brings the iPod touch out of the virtual stone age that it was in, making it a modern iOS device with 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 (a first for any Apple device), and 1GB RAM. As we covered previously, Sonos connects to your wired or wireless Wi-Fi network, allowing Sonos components to talk to each other in different rooms. It's a fantastic system, and thanks to the free Sonos app, it is simple to control. Watch as we set it up in this episode.

Apple releases iOS 8.2 with Apple Watch support

Following its Spring Forward Apple Watch event, Apple has released iOS 8.2 publicly. The update brings about minor fixes, along with one big feature: Apple Watch support. In order to use the Apple Watch, you’ll need to be running iOS 8.2 on your iPhone 5, 5s, 5c, 6, or 6 Plus. After installing the update, you’ll find the new Apple Watch app on your home screen, which is what you will use to download apps and manage settings for your Apple Watch, should you pick one up.
iOS 8.3 will follow soon, with new diverse emoji and wireless CarPlay support. In the meantime, you can download iOS 8.2 now.
